No one knows what tomorrow will bring.  The successful among us pray for the best while preparing for the worst.  Creating your "Permanent Career" is the best thing you can do to assure you and yours are taken care of, regardless of circumstances.

Take it from someone that knows.  I've personally experienced some of the aforementioned tragedies.  Not long ago, my situation was dire, very dire.  For me to have had then, what I have now, i.e., the wherewithal to work and prosper independently without regard to the vagaries of employers or the actions of others would have been invaluable. 

What you're reading describes a realistic approach to building significant secondary or principal income.  What you do depends on what you want.  It's up to you.  Either way, your successful execution of the instructions contained herein insulates you and your family from the whims of others.  That provides you with a very deep sense of well being.

You may ask, why networking and why Leader's Club?

I'm a CPA.  In times past I was in private practice.  It was my goal to develop a specialized clientele and serve that clientele.  I was successful, but it wasn't what I thought it would be.  As an independent practitioner, I was personally responsible for acquiring clients, serving those clients and being available to them virtually around the clock.  Concurrently, I was responsible for staying abreast of numerous pronouncements from multiple authorities.  Additionally, I had to undergo 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education annually to maintain my license.  I was working myself to death.  It was not a pretty picture.

The aforementioned book accurately describes the circumstances of most entrepreneurs.  As was the case with me, you have to do everything, solicit clients, serve those clients and stay abreast of developments in your field.  You don't have one job.  You have ALL the jobs.  You're pulled in a million different directions.  If you grow your organization, that may permit specialization via the acquisition of employees.  That's fine, assuming you're lucky enough to get good employees, but that introduces a whole new set of challenges requiring more of the entrepreneurs time.  Employees are people.  People have problems.  People problems require a HUGE amount of time.  It never ends. 

After three years, I was done.

I wanted to practice my craft and earn a good living.  In addition to that, I wanted to develop an income totally independent of my employer that was not subject to anyone's actions but my own.  It's mine.  I own it.  It's derived from a business that belongs to me.  Unlike the accounting business I created, I can stop work to go on a two week vacation without fear that I'm leaving clients hanging. 

That's what I've got and that's what I'm saying I can help you do.
